The Bristlenose Pleco (Ancistrus sp.), sometimes called the Bushynose Pleco, is a member of the Loricariidae family of South America. Originally found in the Amazon River basin, the Bristlenose Pleco is a hardy fish that can survive and thrive in a variety of different habitats. It's perhaps the most popular species of Pleco you will find in home aquariums.
These easy to care for tropical freshwater fish are great for aquariums and aquaponic projects. They grow to a maximum size of about 5 inches. They're perfect for aquariums or IBC totes as they do not get too large but keep algae under control and eat left-over fish food. All our Plecos are tank-raised in the USA by us.
Color varies but Lemon Bristlenose Pleco have a yellow appearance.
